The New, Gauley, and Bluestone Rivers are all part of the greater New River Basin that extends from North Carolina, through southern Virginia, to southern West Virginia. The rivers and streams of the watershed are affected by mining, logging, manufacturing, agriculture, and disposal of human waste. There are no large notable Lakes that appear within this Basin however, meaning that almost all life that lives within this basin is housed in or near one of these major rivers.
